Penten joins Airbus's Team Maier
Canberra-based cybersecurity company Penten has joined Airbus’s Team Maier to jointly bid for the Defence JP9102 project to build a sovereign military satellite capability.
Penten will work with fellow Team Maier members to design and build the transmission security module for Airbus Defence and Space’s Proteus software-defined radio satellite modem as part of the bid for the major project.
Penten will be offered the opportunity to evolve the technology developed under the project into a domestic solution, as well as one capable of being sold to Airbus customers.
Airbus Defence and Space Director of Space for Australia Martin Rowse said the selection of Penten for the project is fitting given that the predecessor to the Proteus modem was developed in Australia.
“Encryption is a key cornerstone of milsatcom and, as Australia’s leading sovereign encryption solutions provider, Penten will be critical to the future success of Australia’s capability,” he said.
“Combined with Airbus Defence and Space’s Proteus SDR modem, Penten will enable Team Maier to offer a proven, ready-to-launch solution with world-leading resilience and anti-jam capability.”
Other Team Maier members include SSTL, Willyama Services, Microsoft, Clearbox Systems, Blacktree Technology and UGL.
