About the Role

The Software Developer plays an active role in the development and delivery of Penten’s products and projects. Reporting to the Head of Electronic Warfare (EW) Products, this role is responsible for writing succinct, clean, compliant and secure code to create practical solutions for our clients. Specifically, this role will:

  • Work as part of a cross-functional team to develop integrated solutions for our EW product suite and other related projects.
  • Analyse business requirements and write high-quality, secure, testable and maintainable code to deliver optimal solutions.
  • Examine existing systems, identify flaws, and create solutions to improve code quality, expand features, and maintain quality standards and compliance.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve any issues in development, test and production environments and processes.
  • Write comprehensive documentation to facilitate seamless deployment and ongoing support of software solutions.

Skills & Experience

Proficiency with at least one systems programming language (e.g. C, Rust), one scripting language (e.g. Python) and/or front end web languages (e.g. JavaScript, Typescript).

  • Demonstrated experience with front end web development frameworks (e.g. Angular or Vue).
  • Ability to clearly communicate highly technical and complex concepts to technical and non-technical people.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise and work on multiple projects concurrently.
  • Critical thinking and ability to learn new concepts and analyse and solve complex issues across various programming languages and platforms.

Qualifications and Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this position you must:

  • Have tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Software Development, Computer Science, Engineering or similar (or equivalent industry experience); and
  • Be an Australian citizen; and
  • Hold an AGSVA NV1 clearance or higher (or be eligible and willing to undergo the process)
