Executive Team

Sarah Bailey, CFO

Sarah is an accomplished finance and business executive with over 20 years’ experience in finance, strategy and governance.

Sarah joined Penten from EY where she consulted to federal government agencies on finance transformation. Sarah is Penten’s CFO and Company Secretary and was recently invited to join the Penten Board of Directors.

She previously held senior financial roles at Australia Post and National Australia Bank where she managed the transformation of finance operations, plus all financial and regulatory reporting of the National Australia Bank. Sarah also founded a successful CFO advisory for SMEs in Australia.

Sarah is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a Chartered Accountant. She holds two bachelor’s degrees in Commerce (Accounting) and Arts (Psychology), and a Graduate Diploma of Business Leadership.

Peter Short, GM - Innovation and Technical Services

Peter has successfully worked in both operational, advisory and leadership roles, representing both private and public sector interests in Australia and throughout the Middle East, North American and Asia Pacific regions.

His appointments have support senior Government and Corporate executives, and the management of high performing teams encompassing a wide variety of responsibilities, cultures, and experience levels.

Experiences derived from operational management and business-related roles within the private and public enterprise have provided valuable knowledge and insight into the application of technologies across both private and public activities in support of Australia’s National interests.

Peter holds a Masters in Management and Systems Engineering, a bachelor’s degree in Geography, and is a recognised Capability Technology Manager resulting from his time at the Australian Defence Forces’ Capability Management and Technology College.

Rosalind Tregurtha, GM - People and Culture

Ros is a highly experienced executive with over 20 years’ working across all things people and sustainability.

Ros joined Penten from Domain Group where she was the Chief People & Sustainability Officer. Whilst at Domain she was also a Trustee of the Fairfax Foundation.

Prior to Domain she held a variety of senior human resources roles at Fairfax Media including supporting the Metro Publishing division, joint ventures and was the HR/Change Lead for the Fairfax of the Future transformation program. Whilst working at CSIRO as an HR Adviser she took 12 months out to volunteer in Samoa as part of the Australian Youth Ambassadors for Development scheme in the Public Service Commission.

Ros is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. She holds an honours degree in Commerce (Employment Relations) from the University of Western Sydney. Outside of work, Ros enjoys global travel.

Andrew Buttsworth, GM - Growth, Marketing and Corporate Affairs

Prior to joining Penten as Head of Growth, Marketing and Corporate Affairs, Andrew had a diverse career across multiple different industry sectors.

This included several years building and leading financial technology and marketplace companies in the Health, Disability and Insurance domains, and multiple senior roles at Westpac, notably as Head of Institutional Banking, Canberra and Group Head of Government and Industry Affairs.

Prior to entering banking, Andrew served as an adviser and then Chief of Staff to the Australian Defence Minister. This followed 15 years in the Royal Australian Air Force as a fast-jet pilot. A graduate of the Australian Defence Force Academy, Andrew also holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the Australian Graduate School of Management.

When not working Andrew enjoys exploring Canberra or spending a day at the beach or snow with his wife, three daughters and two large dogs!

Matthew Wilson, Executive Chairman

Matthew Wilson is the Executive Chairman and a co-founder of Penten.

Since its inception in 2014, Penten has grown to over 150 staff and won multiple high-profile awards including the AFR and Boss Most Innovative Company and Cyber Business of the Year in the Australian Defence Industry Awards for 2019, 2020 and 2021.

Prior to establishing Penten, Matthew led a team that built a cyber security business acquired by Northrop Grumman and a SaaS (software as a service) company which became part of US listed Mitel.

In 2019, Matthew was awarded EY Entrepreneur of the Year for NSW and ACT, and the 2019 Pearcey Award for technology entrepreneurship in the ACT.

In 2020 Matthew was awarded a highly commended in the Male Champion of Change category in the Australian Women in Security Awards.

Until January 2024 Matthew served as Penten’s Chief Executive Officer. Following the appointment of Greg Barsby as CEO, Matthew assumed the role of Executive Chair.
